The Worlds Fastest Micro-Processor - Power6
IBM has come up with a new revolutionary processor named - Power6. It runs on a whopping 4.7 GHz frequency and is currently the worlds fastest. In response to Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor which runs at a maximum clock pulse rate of 3 GHz, IBM’s Power6 has snatched the number one spot from Intel with a bang.
The IBM’s Power6 processor is based on the 65 nanometer architecture like it’s counterpart Intel’s product, but IBM has managed to double it’s processing speed from it’s previous Power5 series processors, while at the same time they have managed to keep the power consumption for processor and cooling to almost the same amount as that of it’s previous Power5 series processor, which is in itself an incredible feat! Whereas Intel has still not managed speeds above 3GHz for its series of duo core processors that are available in the market.
